Sport at Walsham le Willows CEVC Primary School

Sport plays an important role in motivating our children and we are committed to providing a high quality experience for all our children.  We actively promote and encourage participation in physical activity.  We aim to provide high quality lessons and extra-curricular activities that will inspire and encourage children to participate in sport and stay fit and healthy.

Our curriculum is designed to engage and inspire all pupils.  Lessons are taught by Premier Sport and by class teachers.  We are lucky to have a field that can be used all year round (weather permitting) for sporting activities and also a wildlife area which is used for our Forest School activities.

Our extra-curricular activities include lunchtimes, breakfast clubs and after school clubs.  Most of our after school activities are run by teaching staff with high levels of enthusiasm and commitment.  During 2013 / 2014 we have run a football club at lunchtimes and a gymnastics club after school (both run by Premier Sport), rounders, netball, multi-skills, tag rugby, fencing and athletics.

Spring Term 2016 started with Y6 PE leaders leading circuit competitions in school for our KS2 children - they were great leaders and the children had a great time!

Our hockey teams played in an inter-school tournament in March.  Both teams played really well with great team work and sportsmanship. A special well done to the tournament winners who made it through to the county finals.

After it was postponed, our School Games Day finally went ahead. KS2 played inter-house rounders to start the day off. Children across the school competed in relay, egg and spoon, sack and running races and Phoenix house picked up their gold medals for the day. Well done! All children worked really hard and demonstrated excellent sportsmanship.
